Einbeck's notgeld program drew on the town's deep association with bockbier — the strong lager style whose very name is a corruption of "Einbeck" as filtered through Low German and Bavarian pronunciation. The town leaned hard into that identity across its notgeld series, making the municipal small-change notes among the more thematically coherent of the thousands of German city issues flooding the market in 1920.
Gebrüder Jänecke was a well-established Hanover printing house with a long track record in commercial and municipal print work. Their notgeld output for multiple Lower Saxon issuers during the 1920–1921 emergency period was technically consistent if not always distinctive.
