Beschrijving voorzijde Warm ochre ground with a dotted scalloped border frame in dark brown throughout. The denomination numeral "25" set within a dark circular medallion with radiating dot ornaments occupies the centre, with the abbreviated "Pfs." below. Blackletter script carries the words "Fünfundzwanzig Pfennig" across the top and "Stadt" and "Lüben" in large display type flanking the medallion. Three lines of smaller text at the foot record the validity date of 31 December 1920, the redemption clause through the Stadthauptkasse, and the issue date of 15 October 1919 with the manuscript signature of Der Magistrat; the printer's imprint "Fernbach, Bunzlau" appears below the border.

Beschrijving keerzijde Ochre ground enclosed by the same dotted scalloped border as the obverse. A large concentric rose-window guilloche in dark brown fills the centre, its innermost circle containing a circular vignette of the Lüben town arms: a crenellated city gate with two flanking towers, a heraldic eagle shield at the base, and two armorial supporters. Denomination numerals "25 Pfg." in bold blackletter appear in each of the four corners. The series designation "Serie IV" is inscribed in italic script at the top centre.

Opmerkingen

Lüben's 1919 Notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of municipal emergency currency that flooded Silesia immediately after the Armistice, when the Reichsbank simply could not supply adequate small-denomination coin to a region already destabilized by demobilization and supply shortages. L. Fernbach in Bunzlau was a logical choice — a local commercial printer close enough to handle fast turnaround without the delays of going to Leipzig or Berlin.

Bunzlau itself was only about 30 kilometers from Lüben, which kept logistics manageable during a period when nothing about logistics was reliable.
