| 表面の説明 | The niobium centre, struck in raspberry-red and grass-green, depicts a butterfly with wings spread, above which an atomic symbol is featured; a molecular chain extends from the silver ring into the niobium field. The surrounding silver ring presents a series of progressively magnified details of the butterfly motif: a section of the wing surface, an image as seen under a light microscope, a further magnification under an electron microscope, cellular structures, and finally a cell with its nucleus rendered in fine relief. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH 2017 25 EURO is inscribed along the periphery of the silver ring. |

Austria's niobium euro series, running since 2003, assigns a different color to the niobium core each year through an anodizing process that manipulates the oxide layer on the metal's surface — the 2017 issue produces a green hue. The series is unusual in that the Austrian Mint holds an effective monopoly on this technology at collector-coin scale, and no other sovereign mint has replicated it in annual production.
Mintage for the Mikrokosmos issue was capped at 65,000 pieces, consistent with the series norm.
