| Reverse description | The niobium centre displays a fragment of a cell spanning the field, featuring a section of a ray structure and a tetrahedrally arranged molecule, progressing clockwise to a full view of a ray and a bee rendered in fine detail. The silver ring is divided into compartments defined by hexagonal frames, containing, in clockwise succession: the structure of a virus with membrane envelope, polioviruses, spiral-shaped spirilla, cocci, a radiolarian organism, and a cell in the process of division; additional molecular structures are indicated throughout the field. Degree markings inscribed in the legend serve as scale or orientation indicators. The title legend MIKROKOSMOS and the degree graduation 10° through 80° are inscribed along the periphery. |
