| 背面描述 | Dynamic battle scene depicting United States Marines engaged in close combat with Imperial Japanese soldiers during the Battle of Guadalcanal. The composition conveys the intensity of jungle warfare, with figures rendered in high relief amid the chaos of battle. In the background, an American battleship dominates the seascape, while Japanese aircraft are depicted threatening the vessel, evoking the combined naval and land dimensions of the campaign. The reverse legend BATTLE OF GUADALCANAL appears prominently within the design. |

The Battle of Guadalcanal, fought from August 1942 through February 1943, was the first major Allied offensive in the Pacific Theater and the first time Japanese ground forces were decisively repelled. The six-month campaign cost the U.S. Navy more ships than any other engagement of the war, and Japan's subsequent withdrawal marked the strategic turning point that ended her expansion in the Pacific.
Niue's commemorative gold program is one of the more commercially active in the Pacific island series, with coins struck under license arrangements that bear no meaningful connection to the issuing territory. The KM#3073 reference places this squarely within that collector-market framework.
