| Obverse description | The Jamaican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing pineapples and a cross, supported by two Taino figures — a male warrior holding a spear at right and a female figure carrying a basket of fruit at left — with a crocodile atop a royal helmet as crest and a scroll below bearing the national motto. Jamaica issued this coin as part of the United Nations Decade for Women, a global initiative running from 1976 to 1985 that culminated in the Nairobi Forward-Looking Strategies conference. The series prompted numerous Commonwealth nations to produce commemorative silver issues, most of them low-mintage pieces absorbed almost entirely by collector markets rather than circulation.
KM#126 saw limited distribution outside philatelic and numismatic bureaus.
