| Beschrijving keerzijde | A dramatic high-relief confrontation between two cave lions (Panthera spelaea) depicted in a naturalistic prehistoric landscape, rendered with selective polychrome coloring in warm amber and brown tones. The dominant lion at left rears up on its hind legs with claws extended and jaws agape, facing a second lion at lower right which lies on its back with mouth open in a defensive posture. The background features a richly detailed scene of conifers, rocky outcroppings, and sparse ground vegetation, with the trees and rocks rendered in antique silver finish contrasting with the colored animals. The legend CAVE LION is inscribed in relief along the upper border of the coin. The engraver's initials KS appear in the lower right field. |
