The Caribbean Development Bank, headquartered in Barbados, was established in 1969 primarily at Canada's initiative as a regional lending institution to fund infrastructure and economic development across member states. Trinidad and Tobago, as one of the wealthiest Caribbean economies due to its petroleum sector, was a founding member and consistent contributor. This commemorative issue marks the bank's first decade of operation.
