| Obverse description | The full Arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas occupy the central field, depicting a shield charged with a galleon in full sail beneath a rising sun, supported by a marlin to the left and a flamingo to the right, both standing on a grassy compartment. Above the shield rests a crested helmet surmounted by a conch shell and decorative mantling. A scrolled banner below the supporters bears the national motto in three parts: FORWARD, UPWARD, ONWARD and TOGETHER. The circumferential legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1979 inscribed in the lower field. The entire design is framed by a continuous beaded border. |
