| 正面描述 | The quartered arms of Andorra occupy the centre of the obverse, surmounted by an episcopal mitre-crown. The shield displays the traditional four quarters: the mitre and crosier of the Bishop of Urgell (upper left), the vertical pales of Aragon (upper right), the horizontal bars of Foix (lower left), and two bulls passant representing the Viscounts of Beam (lower right). The denomination '25 D.' flanks the shield at lower left and right respectively, with the word 'EURO' inscribed below. The circular legend reads 'JOAN . D.M . BISBE . D'URGELL . I . PRINCEP . D'ANDORRA' around the upper periphery, with the date '1997' at the base. |

Issued to mark the 40th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, this coin ties Andorra to a European political moment in which the principality had no direct part. Andorra did not sign a formal cooperation agreement with the European Community until 1990, and only adopted the euro — without EU membership — in 2011. The choice to commemorate the Treaty of Rome from that particular outsider position is quietly telling.
