Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Arnold Machin, occupies the central field. The Queen wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, her hair styled in loose waves. A circular legend surrounds the portrait, reading '25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CORONATION OF ELIZABETH II' with the date '1978' positioned at the base, flanked by two raised dots. The coin displays a deeply mirrored proof finish with frosted portrait relief against a polished field.

Aanvullende informatie

The Turks and Caicos Islands adopted the crown as its currency unit in 1969, pegged to the US dollar at a rate of one crown to one dollar. By the late 1970s the territory was producing large-format silver crowns almost entirely for the collector market — circulation was effectively dollarized in practice, and these issues were never intended to pass as everyday change. The Red Dragon of Wales series belongs to that wave of Commonwealth numismatic issues tied loosely to royal and heraldic themes, produced with export to foreign collectors clearly in mind.
