Obverse description Printed in black, blue, and red on plain paper within a chain-link border. The issuer legend "THE STATE OF FLORIDA" appears in large ornate black letterpress type across the upper field, with the promise to pay text in smaller black type beneath it. A large blue overprint of "TWENTY-FIVE" dominates the centre, overlapping the denomination numeral "25" in black at both lateral margins and the mixed-case "Twenty-Five Cents." inscription; the date "Tallahassee, Feb'y. 2nd, 1868" and two manuscript signature lines for Governor and Treasurer appear in the lower portion, with the red pledge legend "The Public Lands of the State pledged." along the bottom edge. A red italic receivability clause runs across the top above a wavy rule.
