George VI died on 6 February 1952, making this one of the final issues struck in his name for British Honduras before the transition to Elizabeth II coinage. The colony had switched this denomination to copper-nickel from silver in 1942, a wartime measure driven by silver's strategic value — a change that proved permanent.
