Obverse description Bare-necked, crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, modeled by Percy Metcalfe, with the engraver's initials 'PM' visible in the field below the truncation. The portrait is unadorned save for the St. Edward's Crown atop the king's head. The circumferential Latin legend reads 'KING GEORGE THE SIXTH' and is separated from the reeded edge by a continuous beaded border encircling the field.
