Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George V, rendered in high relief after the portrait by Sir Edgar Bertram MacKennal. The king is depicted in military dress with epaulettes and decorations visible at the truncation. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND:IMP: in raised Latin characters, separated by a raised dot at the conclusion. The reeded rim frames the design with a fine toothed border.
