| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II at approximately 77 years of age, depicted with bare head, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, after the portrait by Susanna Blunt. The legend arcs around the upper periphery, with the royal title inscription divided to either side of the bust. The design is characteristic of the fourth definitive portrait of the Queen used on Canadian coinage from 2003 onward. |

The bird is surrounded by flowering white blossoms and green foliage, creating a naturalistic botanical setting. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 25 CENTS and date 2008 appear along the lower periphery, separated by the central design. The engraver's initials AN appear in the lower left field. This coin represents the fourth issue in the Royal Canadian Mint's Birds of Canada colored quarter series. |
