| 备注 |
Canadian Tire "money" occupies a legally ambiguous space — it is not currency, not a cheque, and not a coupon in any conventional sense, but a proprietary scrip that the company has issued since 1958. The Canadian Bank Note Company, which produced genuine Dominion of Canada notes and later Bank of Canada issues, printed this series. That choice was deliberate: the security printing gave the scrip an air of legitimacy that discouraged counterfeiting while reinforcing the brand's blue-collar reliability.
The 1985–1987 date range corresponds to a period when redemption rates were carefully managed — Canadian Tire tracked that only about 3% of issued scrip was ever redeemed, making the program extraordinarily profitable as a loyalty mechanism.
