Obverse description The national coat of arms of Guyana occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into quarters bearing wavy lines representing the rivers, a Canje Pheasant (Hoatzin) in base, and a Victoria Regia lily pad above. The shield is surmounted by an Amerindian headdress as crest, flanked by two jaguars rampant as supporters, each standing upon a stylized base. A ribbon scroll below bears the national motto in three segments across the field.
