Vallgorguina is a small municipality in the Baix Montseny comarca, and like hundreds of Catalan towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency when the Republic's central coin supply collapsed after 1936. The 25 céntimos denomination was among the most common targets for local emission — small enough to cover everyday transactions that metallic currency could no longer handle.
Printed by Miguel Grivé, operating under the collectivized designation Gràfiques Unificades Núm. 1, this note reflects the anarcho-syndicalist reorganization of Catalan industry during the early war period, when many private print shops were brought under worker control.
