正面描述 Letterpress-printed in black on cream card stock, the note is enclosed within a dotted outer border surmounted by rows of stylised tulip or fleur-de-lis typographic ornaments at the top and bottom edges. The issuing authority, 'Consejo Municipal de Castellar de Santiago', is set in two lines across the upper half, separated from the large bold central numeral '25' and the denomination legend 'CENTIMOS' by horizontal rules. The date 'Octubre-1937' appears in italics at the lower centre, immediately above the ornamental base border.

背面描述 The reverse is printed on plain cream card stock and bears no decorative or typographic elements, consistent with the economical letterpress production methods employed for Spanish Civil War municipal emergency issues from the province of Ciudad Real.

备注

Castellar de Santiago is a small municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, and like hundreds of similarly sized towns across Republican-held Spain, it issued its own fractional paper currency during the Civil War after the withdrawal of metallic coin from circulation. The Consejo Municipal emissions of 1937 were purely local instruments — theoretically non-negotiable outside the town itself, and backed by nothing more than the authority of the local council.

Thick card stock was the norm for these emergency fractions, partly because lithographic card held up better in daily market use than thin paper, and partly because it was harder to counterfeit convincingly with available materials.
