| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large six-pointed star (Seal of Solomon) rendered in intricate interlaced geometric tracery, enclosing a central circular perforation. The triangular segments of the star are filled with elaborate arabesque foliate ornament. A broad inner border of scrolling vegetal decoration surrounds the star motif. The Latin legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper periphery, while the Arabic inscription الإمبراطورية الشريفة curves along the lower periphery, both separated from the central design by a beaded or rope-like inner rim. |
