| Reverse description | Green and violet guilloche underprint with an elaborate interlaced ornamental border. Three circular medallions each contain a classical female portrait bust, one at the top centre and one on each lateral margin. The denomination is printed in large green numerals at the centre, with redemption text below and the redemption deadline date. A circular red stamp of the Chambre de Commerce de Dijon, bearing the city arms, is applied at the lower centre. |

France's wartime small-change crisis never fully resolved before the armistice, and many provincial chambers of commerce continued issuing their own token notes well into the early 1920s. Dijon's Chambre de Commerce was among the more prolific issuers — JP#53 alone encompasses multiple types across several denominations — relying on local printer Gérin rather than any national authority to produce the series.
The watermark is the only concession to security in an issue that was fundamentally a civic convenience instrument, redeemable locally and worthless outside the Côte-d'Or.
