Obverse description The simplified Nicaraguan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting an equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanoes rising from the sea beneath a radiant sun and rainbow. A fine beaded border frames the design. The circumferential legend reads REPÚBLICA DE NICARAGUA in the upper arc and AMÉRICA CENTRAL in the lower arc, separated by small decorative stops.
