| Obverse description | Central design features the Guatemalan coat of arms: a quetzal bird perched atop an ornate scroll inscribed with the independence date, flanked by two crossed rifles with fixed bayonets and two crossed swords, all framed by laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The scroll bears the legend LIBERTAD / 15 / de SEPE de / 1821 in multiple lines. Below the central device, in the lower field, the silver fineness and mint year appear as 0835 * 1893. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border. |
