Chad's fiscal relationship with the CFA franc is administered through the Bank of Central African States, which does not authorize collector coinage — these pieces are instead issued under licensing arrangements with private minting intermediaries, a practice that has drawn criticism from currency purists but has produced some of the more technically ambitious struck pieces to come out of francophone Africa.
