| Reverse description | A dramatic high-relief composition depicting the mythological Kraken rising from a turbulent sea to attack a fully-rigged tall ship, rendered in antiqued silver in the upper field. The lower portion of the oval field features vivid color application, showcasing the body of the Kraken in deep blue, red, and violet hues with a visible beak and glowing green eye, its tentacles wrapping menacingly around the vessel's hull and rigging. Roiling storm clouds fill the background above the waterline, heightening the narrative drama of the scene. The composition is executed in ultra-high relief with exceptional sculptural detail throughout. |

Chad's fiscal relationship with the CFA franc is administered through the Bank of Central African States, which does not authorize collector coinage — these pieces are instead issued under licensing arrangements with private minting intermediaries, a practice that has drawn criticism from currency purists but has produced some of the more technically ambitious struck pieces to come out of francophone Africa. The Kraken series falls squarely in that category: a high-relief, large-format silver issue aimed entirely at the bullion collector market rather than domestic circulation.
At 155.5 grams of .999 silver, no piece of this denomination ever changed hands in N'Djamena.
