The surrounding legend reads VESTIGIA PREMO MAIORUM, meaning 'I follow in the footsteps of my ancestors,' a proud dynastic motto. In the exergue below the horse, the date is rendered in Roman numerals (e.g., MDCCXX for 1720) followed by the mintmaster's initials H. C. H. The design is executed in the bold, high-relief baroque style characteristic of early 18th-century North German coinage.
