| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of Louis XIV facing right, with long flowing wig, presented in the late baroque style typical of his reign. A small five-pointed star appears at the base of the effigy. The circumferential Latin legend commences at approximately the 7 o'clock position and reads clockwise around the field. The portrait is rendered in high relief with considerable detail in the lace cravat and periwig curls. |

The mint mark appears in the exergue beneath the shield, identifying the workshop of issue. The circumferential Latin legend identifying the coin as a new silver piece of Strasbourg (Argentinensis) surrounds the central device. |
