| 背面描述 | Sandan, the principal deity of Tarsos, depicted standing or enthroned upon a horned and winged lion set atop a stepped pyre or altar; the figure is rendered frontally in a hieratic Anatolian style, reflecting the syncretism of local and Hellenistic religious traditions. Greek legends appear in the field to the left and right of the central device, partially legible due to surface wear and patination. The overall composition is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage of Tarsos during the late Hellenistic period. |

Tarsos, the principal city of Cilicia, operated with considerable autonomy under Seleucid and later Roman oversight, and its civic bronze coinage of this period reflects that ambiguity — issued locally but within a political framework that was shifting rapidly as Rome tightened its grip on Anatolia. The city would eventually become a Roman provincial capital, a status that effectively ended its independent minting tradition.
GCV 5672 is a well-documented civic type, though die studies remain incomplete for the series.
