Tarsos, the principal city of Cilicia, operated with considerable autonomy under Seleucid and later Roman oversight, and its civic bronze coinage of this period reflects that ambiguity — issued locally but within a political framework that was shifting rapidly as Rome tightened its grip on Anatolia. The city would eventually become a Roman provincial capital, a status that effectively ended its independent minting tradition.
GCV 5672 is a well-documented civic type, though die studies remain incomplete for the series.
