Beschrijving keerzijde Central field bears the denomination expressed as Thai numeral 2 over 1/2 in fraction form, rendered in bold relief within an open wreath. The wreath, formed of two laurel-like branches tied at the base with a decorative floral bow, frames the value on the left and right sides. The Thai legend SONG SATANG KHRUENG (Two and a half Satang) arcs along the upper periphery. The Heaton Mint mark 'H' appears in small letters at the bottom of the field below the wreath tie.

Aanvullende informatie

Rama V — Chulalongkorn — introduced Western-style decimal coinage in the 1880s and 1890s as part of a sweeping modernization program explicitly designed to signal Siamese administrative competence to European colonial powers eyeing the kingdom from Burma and Indochina. The fractional satang denominations were central to that effort, replacing the older bullet-coin and pod duang monetary system that Europeans had long regarded as primitive.

The 2½ satang is an awkward fraction that never translated well into everyday commerce, and the denomination was quietly abandoned within a few years of introduction.
