| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national arms of Oman occupy the central field, depicting the traditional khanjar dagger superimposed over two crossed swords, all rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished background. The dual dates appear in the upper legend in Arabic script, with the Hijri year 1407 at left and the Gregorian year 1987 at right. The legend 'البنك المركزي العماني' (Central Bank of Oman) is inscribed along the lower border in Arabic script. The design is framed by a fine beaded border around the full circumference of the coin. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large Verreaux's eagle (Aquila verreauxii) is depicted in soaring flight with wings fully spread, occupying the lower and central field in finely engraved high relief, its distinctive wing feathers and body rendered in naturalistic detail. A smaller bird of prey appears in the upper central field, shown in flight above the eagle, suggesting a dynamic wildlife scene. The denomination '٢ ١/٢ ريال عماني' (2½ Omani Rials) is inscribed in Arabic script in the upper portion of the field. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Part of Oman's wildlife conservation series issued through the 1980s, this coin commemorates the Verreaux's Eagle, a raptor whose range is almost entirely confined to rocky, mountainous terrain in eastern and southern Africa — making its appearance on an Omani coin geographically curious. The species does not occur in Arabia, and the choice likely reflects the broader international conservation agenda the Central Bank was signaling rather than any native fauna connection.
The .925 silver pieces in this series were struck at the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom.
