The central design is framed by an inner beaded border, with the circular legend '·EN·BARCELONA·' arcing across the upper field and the date '·1808·' positioned at the base, flanked by small rosette stops. A tied laurel wreath occupies the lower portion of the inner field, its branches rising on either side of the denomination. The overall design is characteristic of the utilitarian struck coinage produced by the Barcelona mint during the Peninsular War period. |
