| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field occupied by the Kannada inscription 'Krishna', denoting the reigning ruler Krishna Raja Wodeyar III, surrounded by the mint name rendered in Kannada script. Krishna Raja Wadiyar III ruled Mysore under British paramountcy from 1799, but by 1831 the East India Company had stripped him of administrative authority following complaints of misgovernance, installing a British commissioner to run the state directly. This coin was struck during that peculiar interregnum — the raja retained his throne and his name on the coinage, but real power sat with the commissioner's office in Mysore City. The arrangement held until his death in 1868.
