| 裏面の説明 | Central field occupied by the Kannada inscription 'Krishna', denoting the reigning ruler Krishna Raja Wodeyar III, surrounded by the mint name rendered in Kannada script. The legends are arranged in a circular or segmented layout around the central inscription, following the conventional epigraphic style of early nineteenth-century Mysore copper coinage. The design is characteristically compact and densely lettered given the small module of the flan. |

Krishna Raja Wadiyar III ruled Mysore under British paramountcy from 1799, but by 1831 the East India Company had stripped him of administrative authority following complaints of misgovernance, installing a British commissioner to run the state directly. This coin was struck during that peculiar interregnum — the raja retained his throne and his name on the coinage, but real power sat with the commissioner's office in Mysore City. The arrangement held until his death in 1868.
