Part of Uganda's long-running series of celebrity and sports tribute issues, this coin commemorates Roberto Baggio, whose career is permanently shadowed by his missed penalty in the 1994 World Cup final against Brazil — the shootout that handed Brazil their fourth title. Baggio had almost single-handedly carried Italy to that final, scoring five goals in the knockout rounds.
Silver-plated copper-nickel on a 39mm flan is the standard vehicle for this type of Ugandan issue, produced almost certainly by a European private mint on contract rather than struck domestically.
