| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Uganda occupies the central field, featuring a shield flanked by a Ugandan kob to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with a representation of the River Nile and the sun at the shield's base, and a scroll bearing the national motto below. The date '20 06' is divided on either side of the arms in the mid-field. The legend 'BANK OF UGANDA' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '2000 SHILLINGS' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The design is executed in a proof-like finish within a beaded border. |

| Additional information |
Part of Uganda's long-running series of celebrity and sports tribute issues, this coin commemorates Roberto Baggio, whose career is permanently shadowed by his missed penalty in the 1994 World Cup final against Brazil — the shootout that handed Brazil their fourth title. Baggio had almost single-handedly carried Italy to that final, scoring five goals in the knockout rounds.
Silver-plated copper-nickel on a 39mm flan is the standard vehicle for this type of Ugandan issue, produced almost certainly by a European private mint on contract rather than struck domestically.
