Uganda issued a series of silver-plated copper-nickel pieces in the mid-2000s featuring European football legends, and Rummenigge's inclusion reflects his standing as one of the defining forwards of the 1970s and 80s — two-time Ballon d'Or winner, 1974 World Cup champion with West Germany, and captain of the side that reached the 1982 and 1986 finals. These are essentially medallions dressed as legal tender, produced for the collector novelty market with no meaningful circulation history in Uganda itself.
