| Aversbeschreibung | The Ugandan coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a traditional Kiganda shield flanked by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, both rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished background. Two crossed spears appear behind the shield, and a decorative scroll below bears the national motto in the legend FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY. The issuer's legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1993 split across the left and right fields flanking the arms. The denomination 2000 SHILLINGS is inscribed in large letters along the lower periphery, and the coin is bordered by a fine beaded inner rim. |

| Reversbeschreibung | A detailed high-relief depiction of an adult African elephant facing forward with trunk raised, standing protectively beside a smaller calf to the right, both positioned on a rocky savannah ground with sparse vegetation in the lower field. The mirror-polished background contrasts with the finely detailed frosted relief of the elephants and landscape. The legend PROTECTION OF THE AFRICAN ELEPHANT curves along the upper periphery in incuse lettering. The silver fineness mark 999 appears in small characters to the lower right of the design, and the coin is bordered by a beaded inner rim. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Uganda's silver wildlife issues of the early 1990s were part of a broader African collector coin program that proliferated after several central banks discovered foreign-exchange revenue in the bullion commemorative market. The Bank of Uganda had limited prior experience with precious-metal coinage, and these issues were almost certainly produced by a European contract mint rather than domestically.
KM#37 is the sole elephant entry for Uganda in this series.
