| Opmerkingen |
The 2017 2000 Roubles note was introduced as part of a two-denomination expansion — alongside the 200 Rouble note — the first new denominations added to Russian circulation since 2006. Both were selected through a public vote that attracted over 5 million participants, with the Far East theme winning out over several competing regional proposals. The decision to anchor a high-value denomination to Vladivostok and Roscosmos's Vostochny Cosmodrome was a deliberate geopolitical statement about eastward development priorities.
Goznak has printed Russian state paper since 1818; the Moscow facility handles the bulk of high-security banknote production.
