Commenti	Uruguay's 2003 date places this note squarely in the aftermath of the country's severe banking crisis of 2002, when a run on deposits — accelerated by Argentina's own collapse next door — forced the government to freeze accounts and temporarily close the banking system entirely. The 2000 Pesos Uruguayos denomination was a direct consequence of inflation eroding the usefulness of lower values. Julio de Brun, whose signature appears as Bank President, presided over the emergency IMF negotiations that stabilized the peso after the crisis. G&D's Leipzig facility handled the production.
