Two finely rendered silver serpents entwine about a laurel wreath encircling the jade disc, their bodies meeting at the apex and base of the composition. The gilded Chinese characters '巳蛇' appear in the upper field above the wreath, and the Latin legend 'THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE' is inscribed along the lower arc of the jade ring. The date '2013' is presented at the base within a cartouche formed by the crossing tails of the flanking serpents. |
