| Mô tả mặt sau | A highly detailed sculptural representation of the celebrated Renaissance goldsmith masterpiece, the Saliera (saltcellar), created by Benvenuto Cellini circa 1543, rendered in high relief at center. Two reclining gilt figures — the female personification of the Earth (Terra) and the male personification of the Sea (Neptune/Poseidon) — face one another in intertwined pose, their bodies selectively gilt in gold against the antique-finished silver field. A sea creature (fish) and architectural elements referencing Cellini's original base appear in the lower register. The surrounding border features ornamental grotesque decoration with additional relief figures in the field. The artist's name BENVENUTO CELLINI appears in italic script within a curved cartouche above the central figural group. |
