The upper portion carries a complex guilloche underprint in yellow and green, overlaid with abstract geometric line patterns and a blue holographic optically variable device at upper right. Bank title 'Banco de Cabo Verde' appears in dark blue at centre-left, the denomination '2000' in red at upper right, and the date '1 DE JULHO DE 1999' along the right margin. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Vertically oriented reverse dominated by a large vignette of a cardinal flower (Hibiscus) in full bloom, rendered in vivid pink-red with a yellow centre, set against a pale guilloche background with overlapping curved line patterns in blue and red. A stanza from Eugénio Tavares's poem 'Morna de Aguada' is inscribed in cursive script across the centre field in Creole. A vignette of a fountain pen nib appears at lower right, and the denomination numeral '2000' with the legend 'DOIS MIL ESCUDOS' is printed at the foot in tricolour. |
