Obverse description Central device depicts the Nicaraguan national coat of arms, featuring a equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanic peaks rising from water beneath a radiant sun, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The date 1988 appears below the triangle in the exergue, with the fineness inscription 825/000 immediately beneath. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA arcs across the upper field, while AMERICA CENTRAL arcs along the lower field, each flanked by a small five-pointed star, all separated from the central device by a raised inner border.
