Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a stylised cross-country skier in a dynamic, outstretched racing pose, rendered in a bold, modernist graphic style with clean linear forms conveying speed and athleticism. To the upper right appear the five Olympic rings above the official Lake Placid 1980 Winter Olympics emblem — a stylised torch and snowflake motif. The word 'PRÓBA' (trial/pattern) is inscribed vertically at the right margin of the field. A three-line legend in the lower portion of the field reads 'XIII·ZIMOWE·IGRZYSKA OLIMPIJSKIE LAKE·PLACID·N·Y', with the year '1980' below.

Aanvullende informatie

The XIII Winter Olympics were held in Lake Placid, New York in February 1980 — the Games most remembered for the U.S. hockey team's "Miracle on Ice" upset over the Soviet Union. Poland issued a collector series around the event, and trial strikes like this piece document the design approval process at the Mennica Polska. The torch variant referenced in ParM#P428b suggests at least two distinct trial dies were prepared, with the torchless version presumably rejected or produced for internal approval review rather than public release.
