The die-work is characteristic of hammered coinage produced at the Goa mint in the early eighteenth century. |

A plain cross pattée divides the field into four quadrants, each containing one digit of the date 1735 arranged clockwise (1, 7, 3, 5). The cross is set within a circular inner border, surrounded by the abbreviated royal legend reading IOAHN ES V R P (Joannes V Rex Portugalliae), distributed around the circumference. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded outer border consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Goa mint. |
