Reverse description The reverse features a medallic portrait of Christopher Columbus in low relief within a circular medallion at the left of the field, depicting a draped bust facing slightly left. To the right stands a detailed architectural rendering of the Columbus Tomb within the Cathedral of Santo Domingo, shown in an ornate Gothic and Baroque facade with prominent spires. Below the portrait, a laurel wreath encloses the centennial dates 1877 and 1977. An inscription beneath the cathedral reads TUMBA DE COLON CATEDRAL DE STO. DOMINGO. The circumferential legend CENTENARIO DEL HALLAZGO DE LOS RESTOS DE COLON arcs around the upper field, while the denomination 200 PESOS appears prominently along the lower margin, flanked by ornamental devices.
