| Reverse description | The reverse features a medallic portrait of Christopher Columbus in low relief within a circular medallion at the left of the field, depicting a draped bust facing slightly left. To the right stands a detailed architectural rendering of the Columbus Tomb within the Cathedral of Santo Domingo, shown in an ornate Gothic and Baroque facade with prominent spires. Below the portrait, a laurel wreath encloses the centennial dates 1877 and 1977. An inscription beneath the cathedral reads TUMBA DE COLON CATEDRAL DE STO. DOMINGO.
