| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse presents a left-facing portrait bust of Bernardo O'Higgins, the founding father and first Supreme Director of Chile, rendered in relief against the field. Behind the effigy, the façade of the La Moneda Palace is depicted in the background. A commemorative legend referencing the bicentennial of Chilean independence and O'Higgins' name arcs around the design, accompanied by the dates 1810–2010. |

Chile's 200-peso coin was introduced in 1994 as part of a broader rationalization of the country's coinage following the economic stabilization programs of the late Pinochet and early Aylwin governments. By 2010, the aluminum-bronze alloy composition had already seen one revision, with earlier bimetallic proposals shelved on cost grounds. The Casa de Moneda in Santiago remains one of the oldest operating mints in the Americas, tracing continuous production to 1743.
