This coin marks Sweden's 1979 amendment to the Act of Succession, which made the crown gender-neutral — a genuine constitutional shift that placed Carl Gustaf's infant daughter Victoria ahead of her younger brother Carl Philip in the line of succession. Sweden became the first European monarchy to adopt absolute primogeniture, and the Riksbank issued this commemorative within a year of the law taking effect.
